Mechanical drive vs hydrostatic drive power transmission

There are big differences between mechanical and hydraulic drive systems. With a four wheel drive vehicle, or tractor, the drive is mechanical to the four wheels. In a four wheel drive hydrostatic sprayer the drive is available to the four wheels, but in a bogging situation the oil is directed to the wheel motor with the least resistance.
